I woke up this morning to a fresh blanket of snow, and it is still snowing. We are now into the second week of April. The winter was a mild winter, and we can’t complain about that, but it is supposed to be spring. I wasn’t expecting to keep a fire going.
Even so, I am thankful for a warm home, food, clothes, and so much more. There are a lot of things in my life that I would like to change. I imagine you can think of some in your life that you would like to change as well. Some things we can change. Some things take work to change. Some things we have no control over. Those in that last category are difficult to deal with. They might be an illness we have or someone close to us has, an incarceration, a job situation, the list could be quite long.
What do we do about the things we can’t change? What do we do about the things that hurt us and yet we have no control over? The following is something I have heard all my life.
Sometimes we have to realize which are battles are worth fighting, and which ones we just need to accept, at least for now. People talk about a bucket list of things they want to do. I have a prayer list of things I want to see happen. I don’t know when some of them will happen, but I am praying and believing for answers. That doesn’t free me from experiencing some pain with the situations, but pain is not all bad. Pain can cause us to pray, and do what we can to correct things. Sometimes all we can do is pray, for we do not have enough money or resources to bring about the desired change. I have found that prayer is the best resource. Our response should not be, when all else fails, pray… but rather pray before anything else.
When you pray, sometimes your situation changes, and sometimes it is you that changes. Either way, most likely it is a good thing. Until next time…..
