Officially, according to the calendar, summer is over and we are now into fall. I am not feeling much difference yet, but soon the leaves will change colors and then drop off. Winter will be here before long. Just like the seasons change, so do things in our lives. Some of those changes, like the seasons are expected. Other things catch us unawares. Those things that catch us unawares can be good or hard to take. Things in life can seem to take forever to change, or they can change in a moment.
At times we can feel trapped into whatever is happening in our lives, the routine can be monotonous and seem unending. That can be the case if you have young children. Between work and taking care of them, one can be left with little time for anything personal. Yet, all to quickly the day comes when we realize that the kids are grown and no longer dependent on us. That can be bitter sweet. We all want to see our kids successful in their choice for life, but the void that can happen as they sprout their wings, can be one of those life changes that can be hard for some to handle. The empty nest is looked forward to by some and dreaded by others. Even when one looks forward to it, the feelings can catch one by surprise. When that happens, one needs to reevaluate their time, schedule, and priorities. While some people naturally shift gears into other activities, there are those who struggle with finding new meaning. Which ever the case may be, take time to pray and ask God to help you reevaluate what your new purpose should be. He already has a plan for you and is waiting for you. This new season may be your best season yet!
