A man I respected used to say that when things get tough and you don’t always know what to do, you need to “keep picking them up and putting them down”. He was referring our feet. When you don’t know what to do, then keep moving forward. Sometimes it is difficult to know what to do. Things get tough, and answers are not always readily available. Yet, we can’t give up, we must keep moving … forward. As we do that, the way becomes clearer and many times a little easier.
The thing is, when things are tough, we can be tempted to just give up, but that would accomplish nothing and in the long run, leave us in a worse position. Others are affected by our decisions, so they would be hurt as well.
We may think that we need to make it on our own, that there is no one we can rely on. People let us down and disappoint us. Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel seems so far away. Yet, as we keep picking them up and putting them down, we will get closer to the light. We also need to remember that when everyone lets us down, and it seems we are alone, we are not alone if we put our trust in Jesus. He will walk through everything with us, guide us, give us wisdom and help us in many ways. We can trust Him. You never need to walk alone. There are a lot of us who would like to help you. Just let s know.
