Time for What is Important

How do you look at time?  If you are a parent working a full time job with children in school, time may seem elusive.  If you are alone, with not much on your schedule,  especially nights may be long.  There are all kinds of other scenarios that I could mention, like someone waiting for an organ transplant, a mother waiting to give birth, a loved one waiting for a Doctor to give the results of an operation and the list could go on and on.  Time can seem like a friend or an enemy.  We have the same amount of time in a day, but for some it seems to fly by and for others it goes so slow.

So for both sides time can be a difficult thing.  Both those with too much and those with too little need to figure out what to do about it.  If you are a young parent trying to juggle a work schedule, kids in school, possibly sports, and other things, one can be run ragged trying to do it all.  Sometimes one has to make some tough decisions and ask if putting your kids in everything is best, or if reserving some time to just be together, have dinner at the dining room table, play some board games, or even just talk.  While activities may be well and good, but not at the expense of the family.  Choose wisely which activities to be involved in.

For the other side, the one with too much time, maybe some volunteer work would help fill in the gaps.  If you can’t get out, consider doing some things from home.  Maybe it will be a craft like making blankets for a mission, or maybe a preemie or cancer until at the hospital.  Or maybe it could be something like reading books in a recorder for the blind, or for some local area.  Your church is always looing for volunteers.  There are possibilities, one might have to brainstorm and check out what is available.  One of the best ways to  combat loneliness, depression, or just to much time is helping others.  When we take our attention off ourselves and consider how we can help others, our own situation seems better.

Whatever your situation, if you let God direct you, you will find your time will go a lot better,

have a great day…
