Decisions. We all make them every day, all day long. They start when we wake up with do we go back to sleep, or do we tackle the day. What do we wear, have for breakfast, and from there on they continue on until we go back to sleep. Some of the decisions are minor and we are the only one affected by them. Other ones are more major and affect others. People make decisions that affect us. Some of those are minor, others have a huge impact on us. If someone drinks and drives and they run into us, the affects are astronomical, and many times irreversible.
We don’t have control of the decisions others make. We only have control of our own. At times we all make wrong decisions. What we do after that, often tells a bigger story. Do we own our mistakes, correct them if possible, an learn from them? Or do we deny that we made them, or even worse… continue to make them? I would hope we would learn and move forward.
I think one of the hardest things is when someone, whether a loved one or a stranger, makes a bad decision that affects us when we are trying so hard to live a good life. Maybe we are left taking care of our family on our own, or living with a handicap that is the result of someone else’s mistake. How we react to it makes all the difference. Sometimes life’s challenges can become blessings for what it teaches us, and the opportunities that come from them. So even if things seem tough now, you have a decision, will you barely survive, or will you rise to the challenge and make the most of it. History is full of people who took bad situations and out of it ended up in much better situations.
There is no doubt that life is hard. You will never walk alone if you invite Jesus into your life and let Him walk with you through everything your face. You will find He will give you peace even when the decisions are tough. What you do with Jesus is the greatest decision you will ever make. It not only affects your now, it affects you eternity. What will you decide?
